What made you want to join Bath Consultancy Group?
It was a bit of luck originally. I was introduced to Bath Consultancy Group through John Cullum & Peter Hawkins who left quite an impression. Other than their sheer friendliness, I remember thinking that this was the type of company that I would have wanted to bring in during my corporate days, when I was leading large change programmes.

I was also struck by the concept of craft. It wasn't just about having products and closing the deal, but a perception that you really ought to know what you are doing. This is rare in my experience.

What has most struck you since joining the team?
The sheer calibre of people working in and around the team. Sitting in the circle at the annual conference earlier this month really brought this home to me.

Culturally, a deep sense of confidence but practiced as courageous humility. Enough humility to know that this work sits on a knife edge between a substantial contribution and nothing at all, yet enough confidence to be there and ask tough questions.

I've also really noticed the momentum in the business, coming off what was clearly an absolutely outstanding last year.

What is your major role / contribution to the business going to be?
I'm not sure yet, and I am looking forward to seeing how that unfolds. I've a deeply corporate background with 18 years at Hewlett-Packard, and I still see myself as a student in the consulting world. Having run large change, culture and turnaround projects from the inside, I am fascinated about how one turns this around and works from the outside-in.

I have two emerging passions that I hope will play well in Bath Consultancy Group...

1. As the pace of business has accelerated over the last twenty years, I have found organisations less able to navigate successfully from internal knowledge and capability. This leads to a growing mandate for quality interventions as business-as-useful, rather than just for the most troubled or enlightened.
2. We are witnessing the breakdown of the corporate model which has led to unsustainable leadership roles that are increasingly toxic. We perhaps saw this first in corporate America, but it is now widely evident. I have a real interest in engineering new models that will serve for the next 50 years.

What would you like our clients / colleagues to know about you?
Happiest when given a chunky problem to solve. I'm a social entrepreneur at heart with a huge appetite for travel, people and cultures. I believe fervently in human potential and what someone with a vision and a loving environment can achieve. I would love to be talented at music, poetry & art but those genes went to other people!

What would you most like your career with Bath Consultancy Group to be remembered for?
Well, I am just getting started, but I do hope to play a part in seeing Bath Consultancy Group continue to grow and realise its potential as a potent force for change in business and society.

And as I shift more of my effort towards Bath Consultancy Group, I am really looking forward to working with groups of people within the team and developing some meaningful solutions to the broken corporate model as I see it. If I were dreaming a little, it would be that I was part of the team that brought forward a credible replacement for the generation of broken organisational models (both public & private) that we are currently witnessing.
