Director
Chris has over 20 years’ experience as a consultant, coach and business manager working with a range of industries including FMCG, High-Technology, Financial and Professional Services. His consulting work encompasses leadership and team development as well as organisation change. He most enjoys challenges which connect these elements, enabling real shifts in people and business performance.
Chris has worked with Bath Consultancy Group for over 6 years, having previously been a client of the firm. He has developed leaders through a variety of interventions with clients such as G4S, Unilever, Microsoft, Nokia, Genzyme and Ernst & Young. This includes considerable experience in designing and delivering leadership development programmes that connect strategic intent/change, with shifts in leadership behaviour. He uses a combination of interactive programmes, action learning and coaching to achieve the shifts in leadership behaviour. He is responsible for BCG’s work with Unilever which includes the provision of all their senior executive coaches globally, developing the coaching skills of HRBPS and a variety of development initiatives using action learning.
He has extensive experience in coaching individuals and senior teams. For instance he is currently coaching the London and Middle East senior partners of a leading global law firm as they lead significant change. Team coaching and development is one of the key levers for creating sustainable change in organisations and is an area of increasing focus for him. Current and recent clients include working with the senior team at the Design Council and a leadership team in a global biotech company. He developed an approach to increase the effectiveness of teaming across NSN, after the merger of the Nokia and Siemens telecoms businesses and as part of this coached some of the senior teams. He is on the faculty for the Diploma in Systemic Team Coaching, run jointly by Bath Consultancy Group and the Academy of Executive Coaching.
In the past, as an Associate Programme Director with London Business School, he worked on several leadership development programmes with international companies such as Kone, 3M, Diageo and Barclays. These often included coaching senior leaders. He also researched the effectiveness of different learning approaches.
Before this, he was the Director responsible for leadership and management development at Cable & Wireless Group, introducing the first integrated, global approach to talent and leadership development. For several years he led an internal organisation consulting team, facilitated many senior, international leadership team meetings and also developed the coaching skills of the global leadership population. He led the change, culture and leadership elements of a global integration process for a large part of the business. He started his career in banking with an American bank and also spent a number of years working as a change consultant with Price Waterhouse, working with public sector clients.
