My work with BCG focuses on two strands:
Creating fast and sustainable breakthroughs in performance
for organisations and partnerships. I address critical business
issues and work with leaders at all levels to develop their
capability to evolve the culture and positively impact performance.
The track record in the public sector for this work is now
substantial with enduring impact over time.
Introducing a simple, elegant approach to systems thinking
and leadership based on the work of Barry Oshry, a leading
systems thinker based in the U.S. I integrate this approach
in my consulting. I also present and run with BCG colleagues
.5 day, 1 and 2 day programmes either as stand-alone team-building
or conference events, or as part of an ongoing leadership
development or consulting programme.
Recent / Current projects:
Developing a new approach to leading & managing in Lambeth
Council with the purpose of sustainably accelerating the Council’s
rate of improvement
Introducing the systems thinking approach of Barry Oshry in
the UK through the medium of a one or two day Organisational
Workshop.
Major clients:
PricewaterhouseCoopers. London Boroughs of Lambeth, Ealing,
Islington, Newham, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham,
Brighton & Hove City Council, Castle Point District Council.
Career History:
I recently established my own company, Living Leadership,
following a role as Director of Future Considerations, a leadership
development consultancy, based in London. Prior to that
I
worked for eight years in the Government and Public Sector
practice of PwC where I pioneered the development of an
integrative approach to public sector transformation. Over
time the teams
I led developed an impressive track record of working with
local authorities to transform performance and create the
conditions and capacity for sustainable improvement. In
my twenties I was a general manager in the NHS for seven years,
working in all areas of the NHS: teaching hospital, primary
and community healthcare, health promotion and a strategic
health authority.
Education:
MSc, Change Agent Skills & Strategies, University of Surrey
MSc (Econ), Health Planning & Finance, London School of
Economics
BCom (Hons), Business Studies, University of Edinburgh.
Publications or research interests:
The next wave of thinking about leadership - is there
for an appetite and a need for taking a broader (more holistic
and deeper?) view of leadership across all the systems of which
we are part - family, communities we belong to, locality,
our organisational lives, wider world?
