Simon is a Chartered Aircraft Engineer who recently retired from active service in the Royal Navy. After an operational career in engineering management posts in Royal Naval Air Squadrons and at Air Stations, he specialised in project management and acquisition of complex systems. He spent 3 years in the USA as UK programme manager on the $41Bn Joint Strike Fighter project, followed by 4 years leading that project on behalf of the UK.
His last appointment was as Technical Director of both the Defence Procurement Agency and the Defence Logistics Organisation in the rank of Rear Admiral. He is chair of the international College of Complex Project Managers.
