Gordon works with Executives and top teams in the public sector and social enterprise sector. From previous senior roles he brings a wealth of experience of economic development and regeneration at local, regional and national level. Currently serving on the boards of a university, a large college, advisor to several social enterprises and an economic development research unit, he hails from Scotland and has worked across the UK in consultancy and senior organisational roles over the past 25 years.
Gordon’s personal motivation is to support people who ‘want to change the world’ – or at least their part of it - by combining personal effectiveness, developing efficient and impactful organisations with a focus on social purpose. In several spells of consultancy his clients have included the combined Scottish Police Forces, the Scottish Home and Health Dept., several regional councils, the Church of Scotland, LGA, IDeA, LBRO, UK Research councils, Development Trust Assoc., Arts Council, probation services, and many local authorities including Shetland Islands, Aberdeenshire, north-west improvement network, Devon, and Suffolk Coastal.
He has previously held a range of senior roles – Chief Executive of Nottingham City Council, Chief Executive of Bracknell Forest BC, Programme Director for public sector reform at the Cabinet Office, Partnership Executive at Apex Charitable Trust. Gordon was also a commissioner on a national inquiry into the future of cities and regions, and has chaired and participated in a number of boards related to education, regeneration and small business support.
